Pride Being A City Girl

I had a Consumer Behaviour on Tuesday that touches on consumers' psychology when they buy things. The lecturer then talked about the pride that city people that they are proud to tell people of their place of origin and those from small town were never really proud of their hometown.

He gave the example by saying that you will tell people proudly "I'm from KL" but you will never heard people say proudly "I'm a Dengkil guy". Everyone burst into laughter after hearing the statement. Haha... The statement might be true in some ways.

Why? Why is this happening? He associated it with something. Something that consumer will have in their mind. And he said these:

They want P.R.I.D.E.

They wanted to appear G.L.A.M.O.R.O.U.S.

I might just sing along to Fergie's "Glamorous". Seems like I went out of topic. Back to the topic. People like to be look up to. Imagine that... Being in a place where most of the rich and famous be.

To tell the truth, I like being in the city. Everything is here in the city. The biggest mall, the highest tower is here. We have the best of everything here. Higher pay for employees perhaps? And people from other town come flocking KL thinking that their will change for better.

Anyway, there has been sayings that KL people is arrogant, rude, unfriendly and the way of living is more stressful and competitive than that of rural area and the pace of living is faster. Sometimes I do envy that the life in rural area is calming, less stress but I still love KL the best.

I personally heard from my friend that KL people is rude and unfriendly. Just wanna clear the facts. I think KL people might appear arrogant, rude and unfriendly is because they want to defend themselves from all the harm here and not looking down on people. There are conman around, waiting for every chance to deceive victims. Am I right? KL people, you guys might say something about this statement.

The life here in KL is sure more stressful and competitive and pace is faster as we don't want to lose out to people. You will lose out if you are not competitive in KL.

I love the life here. Being a competitive person, defensive person, and enjoy the best of everything!! This is the pride of being a City Girl!!

Anyone has anything to say on this topic? Does not agree with what I wrote? You are free to leave a comment.

That's all for now.

Oh yeah. Did I mention that I love KL?

Supper! Supper! Supper!

These few days had been crazy for me. I went for supper with the OCs (Orientation Committee) and also the freshies for 4 days. I am lack of sleep due to going for supper late at night. I probably gain weight from all the suppers. Nevertheless, I had fun during supper that I might don't even care about the weight problem.

First supper is after the Closing Ceremony of the Orientation week on Thursday, 14th June 2007, where we were so tired that we can't afford to walk to a cafe outside our university that is almost 1 km away. So we just went to nearby mamak in Cyberia, an apartment that is 200 m away. There, I met up with the freshies of my group, giving them guidance and advices that they asked. I feel so happy that I can help them in some ways to get use to the life here in MMU.

We went there around 11.30 p.m without showering at all as we had OC Appreciation Dinner and Supper. There were a lot of freshies that went along with us there. We went back early as we were really tired after the lack of sleep for 2 weeks.

The second supper night was on last Wednesday, 20th June 2007, where we really walk to Hasan's cafe which situated almost 1 km away from our university at 12 in the morning!! How crazy is it eh? We walked there and walked back to our university at 2.00 a.m. in the morning. That probably the craziest thing I've ever done just to go for supper.

Thursday (21st June 2007) was better as we went to Old Town Cafe which is even further than Hasan's by car at 12 a.m. And we ended up going back at 2 something to the hostel. The gang is really crazy. We laughed and shouted in the cafe. This Old Town Cafe in Cyberjaya is really different from other Old Town Cafes as we need to pay before we can get our orders. Must be because they are afraid that it will be difficult to collect money from the students after their meal. Hmmm...

The most recent supper that I went to is the OC Supper Night this Monday (25th June 2007). Will talk more about it in another entry.

That's all for now. Lacked sleep nowadays.

Well-spent Holiday

Announcing: KEAT YEE is back!!

Welcome back! Welcome! (Clap hands)

Well, I was busy studying for finals before this and during the one week break, I was busy cleaning my room, plus my brother will use the PC at home, therefore lead to the lack of updates.

Then Orientation Week for the June intake 2007/2008 arrived. I was in the Orientation Committee 2007/2008 and I therefore I was away for 2 weeks for the orientation.

Now I'm back!!

Last semester break had been a quite fruitful, I cleaned the room and meet up with my friends and shopped for stuff.

Firstly, I meet up with Sharron, Yuen Mei and Wan Teang to watch "Pirates of The Caribbean 3: At World's End". Before the movie, we went to Sushi King for lunch. I had Japanese Curry for lunch. First time tasted Japanese Curry and found it is quite nice even though it is not spicy and a little sour in taste.

We took a few pictures there before we go for the movie. After the movie, we went to a photo shop and print out photos which took us half an hour to decide on the design. That's really a long time....

My cup of tea!!

ME and Yuen Mei with our food, Japanese Curry and Shrimp rice...

Wan Teang, moi, Sharron and Yuen Mei in front of the Times Square theme park.

Next up, I went to meet Chee Wei and Wen Jian in Kuchai Lama for lunch. It's a place called "吹吹水". It is a decent place for friends to hang out and 吹吹水. Haha.... Somehow, I realise that Chee Wei and Wen Jian are of opposite personalities what people will perceive them to be.
Too bad we do not have more time to hang out longer and also the camera out of order while we were taking photos. Luckily the photos can be recovered!! And also thanks to Wen Jian for giving us a lift home.

Chee Wei and me. I looked at my best here in this picture. Must be because of all the sleeping (de-stress) during the holiday.

The best buddies....Chee Wei and Wen Jian.

That's all for now.
More updates coming up.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to my dad!!

Yesterday was Father's Day but things seemed to be so normal for us where we just stay at home and hang out as a family watching TV together.

Dinner at some Chinese restaurant in Sri Petaling. It is such a simple celebration for all of us. And my dad even have to pay for the meal. No choice about la, he's the breadwinner of the family. In a few years time, when I start working, my dad won't have to pay for the food on the Father's Day so kasihan.

Happy Father's Day to my Daddy once again. May be happy everyday!!

That's all for now.

P/s: Sorry for the lack of updates during May and June. I had final exam in May and Orientation during June. Back soon with more updates on what's happening!!
