Happy Birthday to me!

Happy 22nd Birthday to me!!

27th January 2008

My family celebrated my birthday in a restaurant. Or should I say, it is just a family, with no birthday cake. If we were to have a cake, my mum would have to finish the whole cake when my sis and me back to hostel. It was supposed to be a happy dinner but the dinner was somehow ruined by some unexpected events.

Firstly, there was a wedding held in the restaurant and we have no choice but to sit at an open area. It was raining and water droplets was blowed to our area. We shifted place to closed area where there's a table available. The services by the waiters and waitresses were bad too.

As there is a wedding banquet held in that restaurant, the food was served quite late. We waited for almost one hour just to eat our dinner. There are even a few times of blackout occured. My brother was really unhappy with all these events happened. To add in to that, he developed allergy the last time we ate there. My brother said that he would never go back there for a meal at anytime after these 2 encounters, haha. However. the food there is quite nice.

28th January 2008

My sister asked me to go to Old Town with my room mates. It was supposed to be a 4-person outing but it turns out to be a 14-person outing to Old Town.

The banana split that my sis and my room mates bought for me. Thanks. I love it! :D

Clockwise from bottom left: Mei Kuan, Syawal (if not mistaken), my sis, Ai Ping and me.
When I was talking with my friends, I heard people singing Birthday song. I was surprised as I thought they will only celebrate my birthday during the OC Supper will falls on my birthday. Thanks for giving me a surprise because I thought that my birthday will be the same as last year's where I just stay in my room, haha.

Me and the chocolate cake... Yum yum

Clockwise from top left: Zeek, Ping Ting, my sis, Ken, Naveed, Sim Kiat, Ging Ging and me.

29th January 2008 - It's My Birthday!

We went to McD in Sri Kembangan/Equine Park to celebrate the birthdays of January OC babies.

Us camwhoring before going to McD.

The cake... Happy Birthday January OCs

Me and Ken, the January babies... Ken was born on 23rd, 6 days older than me. Yay! I'm not the oldest among my friends born in the year 1986.

Valerie was dipping some cream on my face or was she trying to kill me? Haha...

After Valerie dipped some cream on my face, I did the same thing to every guy there. Girls excluded but Valerie is an exception, haha... They all must have thought that I went crazy... Thanks to all the OCs that celebrated my birthday. It's a memorable one.

Double Joy for Me

Double joy within one week for me!

I went back home last Saturday, 5th January 2008 after the final exam ended. I was so tired at that time due to lack of sleep for days. My parents picked me up told me that there's a parcel from Lien Ghee waiting for me at home. I can't to wait to be back home and see what's inside the parcel.

To my surprise, it's a Japanese doll! A nice Japanese doll! What a surprise! There's words inside a card stating "Happy 22nd Birthday". It's my 22nd Birthday present! So it's a surprise comes early for me. I was really touched. So it's a surprise comes early. Lien Ghee never forgets my birthday. She never forgets about me. Thanks Lien Ghee! I will take good care of the doll. It's the most precious gift that I ever got for my birthday :D.

Second joy: I got my Nokia 6120 classic yesterday finally!! I paid on Monday and the parcel is delivered to me on Tuesday. Wow! These people in Lelong.com is really efficient. Impressive!

Sleek, elegant, classical and smooth, it justifies to the word "classic" of Nokia 6120 classic. The clear sound of melodies transmitted from the phone gives pleasure and joy to the ear of the listener, the smooth surface gives soothing sensation to the touch sense.

There's a lot of functions awaiting for me to explore! Gonna take some time before I'm familiar with all the functions, hehe. But I had difficulty fixing the SIM card into the phone though as the slot is too tight. Oh yeah, it has 2 cameras too, so making a 3G call is possible.

Can't find the right words to explain, let the pictures do the talking...

The front view of Nokia 6120 classic...

The back view of the phone.

The front and back cameras of Nokia 6120 respectively... You know, I saw people uses front camera as a mirror, it is useful as mirror to me as will if I did not bring one, haha. The back camera is a 2.o mega pixel camera, not the best for a mobile phone, but is good enough for me to use and survive.

Okay, I might sound like a show off here, but I can't hide the joy of owning this phone. After all, I pay for it with my own money, it means a lot to me. Furthermore, I went through the pain of losing a phone in June 2006. Can't forgot the situation till today.

That's all for now.

Thanks to Lien Ghee again for the present from Japan :D

Phew! Finally done with the post after taking a long time to photograph and edit the pictures. What an achievement! I'm no professional photographer... so the pictures taken and edited are not as good as those of professionals of course. Nevertheless, I do love my work, haha.

Happy Holidays to Me!

Happy New Year 2008 everyone!!

New Year celebration for me this year is quite simple as MMU final exam falls around the new year period, so I did not go any Countdown event to welcome the year 2008. Instead, 12 of us (me, Ken, Tharan, Nicky, Shuk, Alvin, Suyi, Das, Din, Zeek, Wee and Abdul) went to Putrajaya which we decided after a heated-up online conference. There was a slight jam as roads were blocked for fireworks presentation. Cars were parked by the roadside in Putrajaya making it even worse for cars to pass by.

I was in Shuk's car and he went into the wrong route but finally we found our way to a place beside Palace of Justice. We were in time for the fireworks presentation, and after that, we took photographs and gosh, those people sure like to take photographs as we spent a long time there taking photographs. Thanks to Shuk and Nicky for being the photographers. Zeek did some filming for a 'I Am Legend' trailer and the process was quite funny. I would never fail to laugh everytime I see the unedited recordings.

The group pictures in Putrajaya.

Tharan, me and Ken... Part of the so-called 'pap-pap' gang.

After taking pictures, we went to a mamak stall popular for their fried yee mee in Seri Kembangan for our supper. We reached Cyberjaya at 3 a.m. but us in Alvin's car (me, Alvin, Tharan and Suyi) were not in the mood to sleep so we went to a park in Cyberjaya to have a chat. We talked about our lifes and some of the stories that were told were very interesting. It's like a drama, a fiction, something that would only happen in movie really happened in real life. I would keep it a secret as promised. We only went back to our hostel at 5 something in the morning.

New Year passed, final exam is over, and now it's time for me to say,
"Bye bye books, welcome holidays!"

The second trimester of the academic year 2007/2008 of MMU officially ended! The trimester had been a roller-coaster ride for me. Work hard, play hard and no rest. A day before I have my first final paper, my parents pay a surprise visit to Cyberjaya and bring me and my sister for dinner and bought us some food. Nyam nyam. A simple dinner and food... it might just some small things for everyone, but the care that was sowed inside was the motivation for me to go on with my studies.

Starting from the second week of the trimester, things have been hectic for me - DiGi Boot Camp, RMMU 70's Nite, DiGi Youth Street Festival, OC PD Trip 2007, OC Supper, DJ Club weekly on-air session, Cyberpreneurship group project, the up-and-coming E-Nite, OC Supper, New Year 2008 celebration.

My body and mind had been real tired for these 2 months. 2 months without a break! Pressures were mounting up as time goes by. For the first time, I had allergy reaction due to unknown reason. Things were almost out of control and I almost broke down. This is the most tiring trimester for me, and it's a relief that it's over.

This trimester had been a real different compared to other trimesters I had been through. Since the start of my studies here in MMU, I never really have any close friends. I always wonder if it is because I am being too independent or because I build a protective wall around me or because of the difference in mindsets between me and the people that I know.

Anyway, I feel happy that I finally found some friends that I can hang out with - the SDCians and the OCs had made me feel that I belong to MMU community finally. And my life in my hostel room is never boring thanks to my room mates - Mei Kuan and Ai Ping. We can share about anything under the sky. Where can you find room mates that can share anything with you?

The memories that were shared together with all of them will be carved inside my heart. It's cool to have them all in MMU. I shall not forget them when I leave this unversity...

I wonder how will my life be if I did not join Orientation Committee, would I able to find cool people as cool as them...Will my life be Boring? Dull? Colourless? or... Interesting?

My Own Nokia 6120 Classic

I was browsing through Fu-yoh website one day and I discovered something there. There were bidding activities going on in the website. It was called B1D DAT. I was attracted to the items that were on bid - Nokia 6120 and Sony Cybershot DSC-T2. Something about in me that tells me to bid for the items.

On the last day of the bid, 2nd January 2008, I woke up at 11 a.m. and start up PC and log on to B1D DAT website. I started to bid when the bid is about to close at 12 p.m. The strategy for bidding is doing it last minute and of course, others do the same thing (That's for sure!). People outbid me in less than a minute, and I gave up on bidding for Cybershot as it went off my budget of RM 750 (It is sold for RM 984 after that!).

Then, I go after the Nokia 6120 which priced at RM431 when I started to bid. Wow, those people won't give up. Price up to RM500+ to RM 600+, and to RM700+, in less than one hour, the bidding price up for so much. Bidding window for the phone supposed to be closed at 12.15 p.m. but was extended as there were bids going on for it.

It's not easy to beat the other bidders. I set my budget for the phone to be RM750 but I continued to bid on it even though I was overbudget. It must be the competitive side of me that I wanted to win that makes me go on with the bid. That time, the only thing that I thought of is I wanted to get the phone so badly and thus, I increased the budget limit for the phone to RM 780.

When I increase the bid to RM 776.00, no response from the opposition bidder. I thought, "Yes, I'm gonna got the phone!" Times up and yeah, I won the bid at RM 776!! Yay!! RM 776, what a price! It really burns a hole in the pocket. I'm gonna be broke for the rest of the year. Even the whole year expenditure for clothes did not cost that much.

3.5G (HDSPA), 2.0 megapixel camera, voice recorder, music and video player, S60 software, Bluetooth 2.0 - That's more that I want in a phone. Whatever it is, I saw the review for the phone is quite good so I think I won't have regrets in getting the phone. Someone even quoted, "Without a doubt, it had been a joy to use and hold." Can't wait for it to be delivered to my house door, hehe... I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed. The first phone that I'm gonna pay for.

Nokia 6120 classic. It will be MINE soon.

Photoshopped Photos Specially for Friends

It's time to put my Photoshop skills to good use. I learned using Photoshop, Flash and also Dreamweaver software during Digital Media classes in my first trimester for this year. Paid RM 906.00 for this subject, the most expensive subject for my course so far, of course I need to gain something out of it instead of just study the subject for the sake of getting good grade.

It's hard to master the Photoshop skills but somehow it is a really interesting software to use for editing pictures. Been addicted to it lately, trying to explore new features. Of course, my Photoshop skills are not good as the FCMers for sure. I'm just a noob compare to them, haha, but it's enough for me to survive.

*Drumroll*

Presenting to you my work specially for my friends.....

Friendship for life... A farewell for Yuen Mei who went to the US to further her studies. I used whole day to edit it, even till wee hours in the morning where my mother complained that I sleep late just to edit picture. My friends like it, so the hours spent on doing this was worth it.

Hardergayy!!... OK!!... Specially for Tharan to cheer him up as he was feeling unwell lately. Don't feel offended by Tharan's gay pose though as this 'hardgay' pose is a norm for us OCs (Orientation Committee 2007/2008) haha. How 'hardgay' can you be?

Dialogue (l-r: Das, Ping Ting, Tharan, Ken, Chee Wei, Alvin)... Specially for Tharan as well, hehe. This picture is one of my personal favourite so I thought of putting something in the picture to make it more interesting. It took me a long to think of the dialogues as well as arranging the talk bubble, haha. Good thing that all of them like this picture. Hours spent on it was worth it as well. It even became Das' Friendster display picture, ha ha.

I'm gonna improve on my Photoshop for now and explore more possibilities and squeeze all my creative juice to explore new features and effects, hehe. It's nice to be creative sometimes when you have the ideas, but it's hell when you are at bottleneck.

That's all for now. Back to books again.

Hopefully I can come up with more nice work. It's fun to see the end results. Everyone, have fun exploring Photoshop!!

Happy 2008!

Happy New Year everyone!

Welcome Year 2008 and Goodbye 2007. I'm gonna miss 2007 soooo much. Lots of things happened in the past year that it gonna take pages for me to review it.

I feel so old now. New Year Resolution for this year? I'm gonna think about it. Resolutions, resolutions, resolutions... hmmmm. *scratch head*

*Lighten up* Finally, came up with this list of resolution for the year 2008.... hehe.

Keat Yee's New Year resolution:

1) Get back my 17-year-old weight (not gonna disclose it).
Since the end of the SPM, I've gained weight on these phases - post-Form 5 working days, post-Form 6 working days and most obviously university life. Studying till late night consumes a lot of energy and I'll binge on food to satisfy my cravings and thus, explains my gain of weight. Mum will always joke that I am getting fatter day by day. I even get hurtful comments that my stomach is bloated. Damn. Maybe it's true.

I can't fit into the pants that were bought when I was 17. How thin I was last time *sigh* For now, I'm gonna resist the late night cravings starting today onwards. I swear. Friends, look out for me! Need your help to achieve that!

2) Improve on my communication skills
I'll be entering working world in one and a half year, good communication skills is a must in every company. I don't know how I'm gonna improve my communication skills, but somehow I will do it.

3) No procrastination
No doubt, that's what all students aimed for. Right?

3 wishes for now is more than enough for me. I am not going to be greedy as I know I am not disciplined enough to achieve it.

That's all for now. Back to books again. 1 paper down, 1 more to go.

I WANT HOLIDAY!!
